This website brings together my projects as a photographer; a scholar of African fashion, photography, and youth arts movements; and as Board Vice-President of Hospitality House in San Francisco’s most destitute neighborhood.  You’ll find on this site photos; information about my research with artists and designers in Senegal, West Africa; and  oral history profiles I’ve done with people in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.

All these projects focus on the relations between image, writing and creativity.  Their special focus concerns the ways that people in economically devastated communities exercise creativity for social change.
